Gov. Chris Christie speaks in New Hampshire.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie rose out of weeks of silence to suggest on syndicated radio he’s still a contender for the White House – he still believes he could beat the Democratic Party’s pick.

“If I run, I will beat” Hillary Clinton, he said, to radio host Hugh Hewitt.

And if he won, one of his key presidential policies would be to “crack down” on marijuana use, he said, the Huffington Post reported.

Hewitt asked if he would enforce federal drug laws on states; Christie’s response: “Absolutely. I will crack down and not permit it,” he said.

“States should not be permitted to sell [marijuana] and profit” from it, he said.

His comments come as he kicked off a two-day visit to New Hampshire, calling for curbs on the country’s pace of entitlement spending.

“Our leaders in Washington are not telling people the truth,” Christie said, in a speech at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, WMUR reported. “Washington is still not dealing with the problem. Washington is afraid to have an honeest conversation about Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid with the people of our country. I am not.”
