Sen. Marco Rubio announces he’s running for president.

Sen. Marco Rubio made his presidential aspirations formal Monday evening, announcing his candidancy by taking jabs at Hillary Clinton for standing fast in the politics of “yesterday.”

He never named Clinton, but rather referred to the “leader from yesterday” who “began a campaign for president by promising to take us back to yesterday,” he said.

And his response to that promise?

“But yesterday is over and we are never going back,” he said. “We Americans are proud of our history but our country has always been about the future. Before us now is the opportunity to author the greatest chapter yet in the amazing story of America.”

Rubio’s announcement for president at the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami comes on the heels of ones from Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Rand Paul.

He also said: “I have heard some suggest that I should step aside and wait my turn. But I cannot. Because I believe our very identity as an exceptional nation is at stake and I can make a difference as president.”
